Toorak Cellars

About Us

Toorak Cellars is both a bottle shop and wine bar located just opposite Toorak station on Beatty Ave. Our aim is simple: to source, acquire and serve to you, the best wines we can find at any given price point, from near and far. Whether it be something to accompany a mid-week pizza, or Grand Cru Burgundy, we believe that every wine on our shelves should speak loudly of the dirt in which it was grown and most importantly... be delicious.

In the bar we serve a constantly changing 20 wines by the glass, or you can open any bottle straight off the shelf. We don't have a kitchen, but if you're hungry we have some creative ways of feeding you. Great wine is for everyone, and everyone is welcome. See you soon at the Cellars!

"Owners Pierre-Marie and Martine Chermette were among the first in Beaujolais to use sustainable agricultural practices, shunning the use of any chemicals in the vineyard and encouraging as much life in the soil as possible. They prune hard to keep yields low, harvest by hand when the grapes are fully ripe and regularly carry out ‘green harvests’ to further reduce the yields and ensure full ripeness for the harvest. The wines are made with minimal intervention: wild yeasts, minimal sulphur additions and no filtering if possible. Ageing is in traditional up-to-the-ceiling, neutral oak cask", Bibendum.

Now in it's 6th year, the annual Grower Champagne masterclass is always highly anticipated with tickets guaranteed to sell out.

This year is special for two reasons. Firstly we welcome the addition of Vouette & Sorbee and Ulysse Collin to an already incredible line up of producers including Agrapart, Egly-Ouriet, Larmandier Bernier, Laherte Freres and Chartogne-Taillet.

Secondly, as well as being a masterclass in the great Growers of Champagne, this event will also serve as the official launch of our host Robert Walter's groundbreaking first book on the subject "Bursting bubbles: A secret history of Champagne & rise of the great growers".

This event is a chance to experience REAL Champagne, from producers who are setting out to translate their special patch of chalky soil into a complex expression of place in the glass.

These are first and foremost wines, not just luxury products, and we have no doubt that after experiencing them you will never look at Champagne the same again.

The cost of this event includes 8 wines, a light supper and a hardcopy edition of the aforementioned book to take home!

Places extremely limited!
